About Body Stress Release

Body Stress Release (BSR) is unlike anything you will have tried before. It is a unique complementary health technique which assists your body in restoring its in-built ability to heal and maintain itself, relieving pain & discomfort.

Body Stress Release uses information provided by the body to determine where stored tension may be undermining the efficiency of the nervous system. When body stress is present, there is constant undermining of our well-being – physically, mentally and emotionally. Freedom from body stress promotes a better quality of life, in all these aspects.

The practitioner locates sites of body stress by observing your body’s responses to a series of gentle pressure tests along the spine and other areas of the body, using the body as a bio-feedback mechanism. The practitioner then applies a precise pressure to the affected areas to encourage the body to release the tension, thereby restoring communication and the body’s natural self-healing abilities.

What is ‘body stress’ ?

The sole purpose of BSR is to locate and release sites of body stress. It is not the diagnosis and treatment of any condition or illness. It is complementary to medicine. Gail Meggersee
Clients who are on medication are always advised to keep in close contact with their doctor. As BSR stimulates the body’s self-healing power, the doctor may find that the dose needs to be reduced. If a BSR practitioner notices that something is hindering the healing process or working against it, the client is advised to seek medical investigation. If no underlying cause is found, often the symptoms may be attributed to locked-in body stress. Clients undergoing BSR may find that as the body starts to heal itself, the various medications they have been taking to suppress pain, may no longer be required.

The Consultation

For the best results, we always recommend 3 initial appointments over a 2 week period. During your first Body Stress Release appointment your practitioner will take a detailed case history. You remain fully clothed during BSR and will be lowered down on a specially designed bed to a lying position, minimising any painful and unnecessary movement.

The first appointment will last approximately 1 hour with follow-up appointments of around 40 minutes.

If your stress has been stored for a long time, you may need more sessions. But you should certainly start to feel some positive changes after your first 3 sessions.

Cancellation Policy

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice should you wish to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We have a waiting list of clients who are keen to be seen and with enough notice we can offer your appointment to someone else.

Unfortunately, appointments cancelled at short notice or missed appointments are subject to the full session fee being charged before another appointment can be booked.

We are a small business and late cancellations and no shows can have a real impact. However, we also appreciate that sometimes things can happen in life and cancelling appointments is sometimes unavoidable. If an emergency situation arises, please let us know so that we can treat your specific situation with personal attention on those rare occasions.

“Body Stress Release is a health technique that arose out of one man’s journey from debilitating pain and hopelessness back to health.” Gail Meggersee

The History of Body Stress Release

Body Stress Release was pioneered by South Africans, Gail & Ewald Meggersee in the early 1980’s, in response to Ewald’s own crippling pain.
